Our Guest Activities

Set in a small canyon in the far northwest of Namibia, a completely barren landscape with some villages close by—you will find permanent water simply oozing out of the mountain. The water is relatively warm which allows for swimming year-round.

Walking Tour (Approx 1hr)

A walk up the Ongongo creek to the upper level, following the stream all the way to its origin where a massive tree shelters the natural spring. From there we continue in a north-westerly direction, hiking up and out of the canyon. High on the plain, we walk for a couple of hundred meters with vistas to the west. We descend back down into the canyon a bit downstream from the campsite and make our way back to the camp. Water and snacks need to be provided by the guests themselves.

Walking Tour (Approx 2.5 hr)

A walk up the Ongongo creek to the upper level, following the stream all the way to its origin where a massive tree shelters the natural spring. From there we continue in a north-westerly direction, hiking up and out of the canyon. High on the plain, we walk for a couple of hundred meters with vistas to the west. We then continue along the mountain range, ascending to the secret caves of Warmquelle. Let’s see what treasures await us there. After taking a quick breather we descend back onto the plain and head back to camp. Water and snacks need to be provided by the guests themselves.

Other Activities

The waterfall is the attraction year-round, but you can also hike, swim, and bird watch! Don’t forget to look out for zebras, oryx, and springboks! You might even see an ostrich, jackal, or hyena!

Perhaps you’ll go on a walking trail in the caves or visit the Ovahimba communities, but don’t forget to head to the Hoanib River where you may catch a glimpse of a desert-adapted elephant!
